1.Transgender people have the same right to respect and dignity as everyone else in Canada.

               2. This legislation will make it absolutely clear that discrimination or harassment based on a person’s gender identity or gender expression is unacceptable in Canada.

             3. Transgender people routinely experience discrimination, harassment and even violence because their gender identity or expression is different from those typically associated with their sex assigned at birth.

             4. The gender identity or expression are not  protected under the Canadian Human Rights Act.

             5. Gender identity is each person’s internal and individual experience of gender.
